Why Buy a Dog Leash from a Tack Company?

It may seem odd that a company that caters to the equine industry should make, much less advertise, dog leashes. There are several very good reasons why we, at Custom- Tack, offer dog leashes and collars along with our horse gear.

Horses & Dogs - Many, if not most, horse owners also have a few dogs hanging around the barn with them. The people who are good trainers of horses are also good at training dogs. Our riding customers who own dogs have told us repeatedly that they like to use our lungelines and In-hand lines when they need a leash for the dog!

Strength - Custom-Tack’s lungelines are built for use with a large, strong animal. A line that is strong enough for a horse weighing 2000 plus pounds is also strong enough for most dogs.

Rope Burn - Horse people know about rope burn. Has your dog ever ripped the leash from your hand when he wants to chase something? If it’s a nylon supermarket leash, you end up with a friction burn in the palm of your hand. This happens to horse trainers, too, which is why Custom-Tack’s bestsellers, the World’s Finest™ lungeline and European style leashes, are made from soft cotton webbing.

The Long & The Short - Because we make horse gear, we have hard-to-find longer length leashes available for dogs. Horse trainers regularly use 30ft, 35ft and 60ft lines in their work. Dog owners can have the luxury of allowing their animals to run, play and swim while still under control on the end of a VERY LONG line. Remember those customers who told us they liked to use our lungelines as dog leads? Some of them were bloodhound owners who used our 60 ft Pasture Line for hunting and tracking work.

Goats Too! - Custom-Tack’s adjustable webbing dog collars are also very useful as livestock collars for goats and llamas.
